Committees & SIGs

ASCO’s committees are the workplace of our association, and our volunteer-based Special Interest Groups (SIGs) are the vehicle for faculty interchange and the sharing of ideas, resources, and experiences.

Our Standing and Adhoc committees develop policy and guidance on a variety of issues that support the association’s strategic objectives ranging from academic affairs, clinical affairs, and residency education to student affairs, government policy and others.

The Chief Academic Officers and Student Affairs Officer groups involve administrators from all member optometric institutions meeting and discussing issues that advance their common concerns.

Our Special Interest Groups or SIGs provide forums for professional staff, administrators and faculty with common responsibilities to communicate directly with each other about issues related to their areas of interest and expertise. SIGs encourage interaction, cooperation and the sharing of best practices. They also develop guidance in their areas of focus and expertise; these collaborative efforts have advanced optometric education dramatically in recent years.
